- 5+ years of platform software development experience within an agile team environment
- Hands-on experience with Typescript (required), Golang, and/or Python (optional)
- Good knowledge of NoSQL databases (Firebase, MongoDB)
- Experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS cloud
- Cloud-native and serverless architecture implementation experience
- Previous backend deployment experience using Node.js, Docker, git-flow, TDD
- Willing to flex with various development toolsets in a startup environment
- Experience in and appreciation for everything that comes with working in a startup at our stage

- Dive into Calven’s tech stack and get immersed in building up platform capabilities, new services, and improving existing algorithms
- Tackle your first complex task within the platform domain
- Build new features in platform and product domains, primarily (but not exclusively) on the backend side of the technology stack
- Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps platform development
- Analyse complex problems raised by our customers or product owners
- Help address production issues along with support and sales teams
- Deliver new parts of the Calven platform enabling rapid product features development
- Enable product development, support, and sales teams to leverage and automate their work
- Optimise and scale Calven SaaS platform capabilities to support hundreds of customers around the world

THE OPPORTUNITY
As Platform Engineer, you will play an instrumental role in helping shape our product features. Reporting to the Senior Software Engineer and working closely with our mobile and web teams you will help build backend software to support feature development for Calven's products. As part of our growing Platform team, you'll work collaboratively with QA and Cloud Infrastructure and alongside Product Management and Design teams to focus on the software development of integration and data to support and expand the platform services.
Please note - this is an Australian-based remote role with occasional travel to our head office in Sydney Australia.
THE TECH STACK
We build the Calven platform primarily in Typescript using the NestJS framework and deploy it in containers in GCP. We also use Python for ETL to move data into our analytics databases, which drive customer-facing and internal analytics. We build our frontends in React for the web and Flutter for mobile apps. There is also room for tools written in Golang to support CI/CD and operations. Calven uses GitHub for code management and we have a CI/CD pipeline for deployment. In addition, we make extensive use of Terraform and strive to build infrastructure in code and version-control everything.
